For round 3 of the Inside Line South Australian State series we were back at the ever faithful Fox Creek – we were last there for the National Enduro round. This race was dedicated to men’s health week which was a fitting show of support. We were fortunate enough to have some great photographers on the (wet) ground to bring you all some images from the day! Results can be found on the Inside Line website, enjoy:

The track conditions were trying after a large amount of rain.

2016 Inside Line Rd 2 Eagle – User Contribution

Here at Downhill247 we love when the under dog, the black-horse, whatever you want to call it gets up for the win! We also love supporting up and coming photographers, we have seen photographers go from local races and reporting here to world cups and becoming team photographers!

2016 Inside Line Rd 1 – Mt Gambier

Here we are again the first round of the SA state series, what with all the busyness of nationals it certainly doesn’t feel like 6 months since state champs.

The first round takes us south to Mount Gambier. At track walk it looked a relatively untechnical track, fast, smooth and short. As you’ll see in the following photos it would be the complete opposite once 100+ riders hit the track it being so dry it turned super rutted and soft.

The dirt was volcanic ash so it stuck to everything and was ankle deep powder

To say it was loose would be an understatement. Every run the ruts would be different

SA State Championships – Willunga

Racing downhill was the focus of the weekend!

The 2015 South Australian state series wrapped up over the weekend with the state championships at Willunga. Initially slated to be held at Fox on a new track it looks like we will have to wait until season 2016 for that!

Plenty of serious set ups were spotted around the pits.

It was the action on the track we were really interested in!

Initially conditions looked good, as usual though the wind was the real issue. In fact over the weekend it was probably a major player in many of the crashes of which, unfortunately, there were a few! Healing vibes to everyone that had a dirt nap.

Never what you want to see at a downhill race (or anywhere for that matter)!

Back to racing and whilst there were delays due to the need to ensure injured riders were cared for, everybody was understanding – if you were in the same situation you would appreciate it! The track had a few minor alterations, most noticeably the ‘whoops’ jumps section (after a few crashes it was obvious they were definitely causing a few ‘whoops’ moments).

There were plenty of riders roosting the corner, Matt Taylor providing one of the best examples!

There were a range of bikes being ridden, from enduro bikes to full blown downhill rigs.

Riding was hot across all the categories.

It was great to see all the women tackling the track!

Connor Fearon was giving out free lessons to anyone that watched him ride through the whoops.

Jackson Davis is in Adelaide at the moment and came out to race, party shirt and all!

In some sections it was faster to tuck and cruise than pedal into the wind.

Practice was all about riding with your mates and having a good time.

Line choice was something that had many riders redoing sections to find seconds.

There was a crowd on hand to watch riders as they took on the course and they were rewarded with some great riding.

Connor Fearon was always going to be the rider to beat and comfortably took the 2015 state championship!

SA State Series a�� Round 5 a�� Eagle

Saturday's weather was questionable... — Saturday’s weather was questionable…

Off we went to Eagle Mountain Bike Park for round 5 of the Inside Line SA State Series, there were a few choice additions/changes tot he track and the way it was bunted. The steep chute coming into the bridge a third of the way down the track was catching a few people out! Especially during practice on Saturday when conditions were less than ideal, in fact a lot of riders were of the opinion that a few runs on Saturday were enough before they headed home to start the long task of cleaning up!
