Cannonball Festival 2016 – Australian Open Downhill

The third and final Day of Cannonball did not disappoint. The final day played host to the Australian Open downhill and it gave some exciting racing to finish of a great weekend of racing. Let’s wrap up the event with some images:

The final day of Cannonball 2016 and what a day for it

Riders had a couple of hours in the morning to go over their lines after seeding the day before and see what time could be made up

//JUNIORS

Josh Clark laid down a run to just take him into 1st the top 5 were separated by less then 3 seconds

i?? Young Kye Aa��Hearn decided to enter into the junior men and it paid off taking 2nd — Young Kye A’Hearn decided to enter into the junior men and it paid off taking 2nd

Baxter Maiwald was up on Josh Clark by more than a second at the split but a rough bottom sector pushed him back to 3rd

//WOMEN

All eyes were on Tegan Molloy to take the win and she didna��t disappoint

Dani Beecroft came into 2nd

Shelly Flood swinging off of it

//MEN

i??Troy was the last man on the hill and was up by 4 seconds at the split — Troy was the last man on the hill and was up by 4 seconds at the split

He went on to be the only rider to go into the under 5 minute mark and took the win by almost 7 seconds

Luke Ellison finally put one together to take 2nd

Thomas Crimmins on his way to 3rd

Conor Fearon took out 4th

Joel Willis Rounded out the podium in 5th

Brook MacDonald looked wild all morning

But unfortunately snagged a flat in his final run

Ben Forbes was another rider running a enduro bike

Troy Showed why he is national champion but he will have a few riders hot on his heals come March
