Traditionally Sea OtterA�kicks off the international season, this year the first World Cup has already been run but it still seems that the world of downhill really gets into gear around the time of Sea Otter. Now most of the Aussies start their overseas season ‘properly’ and won’t set foot back into the country for some six months!
2012 Oceania Championships’ – Rotorua New Zealand
The 2012 Oceania Championships’ were held in Rotorua, on a track that many riders’, said was one of the best race tracks they have raced on. Conditions varied over the weekend with rain falling in the finals on Sunday. Many ofA�Australia’s Elite riders were preparing for the first World Cup in South Africa and didn’t make the trip over to race. A�Australia’s highest Elite Men’s finish was thirteenth, Junior Men were better represented and Australia claimed three out of the top five places.

Asia Pacific Downhill Challenge 2011
Even though it’s the ‘off-season’ this race is getting bigger ever year, returning this year were Sam Hill, Troy Brosnan and Shaun O’Connor, travelling over with them for the first time was Mitch Delfs. Flash Result: Sam Hill wins 2011 Asia Pacific Downhill Challenge.
On a track totallyA�different from Australian or World Cup tracks, Sam Hill has won the Asia Pacific Downhill Challenge. The track took just underA�three and a half minutes for Sam to ride and consisted of roots, big rock drops and gardens and some decent size jumps. Australians faired well taking three of the top five positions, Troy Brosnan finished 30th. Results are as follows;

Today it was announced a third major UCI approvedA�downhill series will be run in 2012. The iXS Downhill Cup has been running for many years now (you may remember Josh Button finished second overall in 2011A�andA�Troy Brosnan won theA�Leogang round earlier in the year against a pretty heavily stacked Senior Mens Field) and is now the official UCI European Series.
