Qualifying – WC#3 – Fort William

Bryn Atkinson has flown under the radar a little bit this season, look for a big result from him soon though! Photo: Jacob Gibbins

Qualifying at Fort William is all wrapped up and there were a few interesting results! The top spots were dominated by the local riders all keen to win their home world cup. A few other riders have also put their hands up to challenge for the win, with the top 20 separated by less than ten seconds, this race looks like it is going to be the closest of the season so far.

Marc Beaumont qualified a second ahead of team mate Gee Atherton with Danny Hart close behind in third place. The best of the Aussies was Sam Hill in seventh place.

A solid P7 qualifying position for Sam Hill, he appears to be regaining his form as the season progresses, lets see what he can do in the finals. Photo: Jacob Gibbins
If Sam needed more motivation the birth of his first son is another reason! His patch on his pants has Bam in a pram! Photo: Ollie Thomas/kore-usa.com

Big news from qualifying is Aaron Gwin crashed twice and qualified 29th! Still two crashes and only finishing 11.88 seconds behind says something about the speed he must have on this track. This is a critical result for the overall as Aaron didn’t score any points where as Greg Minnaar (who was tied for points with AaronAcoming into this race) qualified in sixth and earned 20 points.
