The seasons they are a changing!

Here in Australia Spring is upon us and Summer will shortly follow. For our Northern Hemisphere riding buddies a lot of places are soon going to be covered in a white substance known as snow! Whistler is no exception, are you sick of everyone saying how good Whistler is? Well hate to tell you, it’s true!

Whistler Bike Park was the first bike park that really put everything together to provide a riding experience like noAother. First of all,Ait’s lift access, that’s a huge positive when looking at almost any Australian track. No uplifts in the back of utesArequired. These chairlifts allow you to ride a plethora of trails, if you don’t want to ride a certain type of trail just go find something totally different, the choices are huge.ASome will argue the trails are straight out ‘bike park’ style but go a bit higher up the hill and get off the 2 metre wide footpaths and you will love it. If you go to Whistler make sure you ride some of the trails ‘off the map’ or in the surrounding areas as the loam is something every mountain biker needs to experience. ItAis the closest a mountain biker has toAcarving through fresh powder.ADon’t be scared to get on a trail bike and go ride the cross country trails, the downhills on these are too good to miss just because you have to ride up the hill! What more could you need than good up lift and dozens of trails? Not much but there is so much more. The village has an awesome atmosphere, it is full of like minded individuals! There is plenty of night life, plenty of food places and bike shops all to happy to help. It is the reason so many pros will base themselves here for periods of ‘training’.

All the trails literally finish at the edge of the village, go up and do it again or grab an ice cold one, your call!

Of course Whistler also plays host to Crankworx, the biggest mountain bike celebration in the world. Over 30,000 people descend on Whistler to celebrate mountain biking! It’s an unbelievable experience, the highlights are the variousAdownhill races held over the weekA(as well as the freeride comps, even if you are not in to freeride you respect the levels these riders push themselves). Now that Australia is coming into summer a lot ofAracing is starting up again but the next time the seasons change get yourself over to Whistler and ride something new! You wont regret it. This is an amateur video thatAwas put together so a group of mates could remember their time in Whistler. While it’s reasonably well filmed, we decided to put it up on the site because if you have ever been to Whistler it will bring a smile to your face and if you never have it will make you want to go even more. Enjoy.
