Today was a day of practice with finals tomorrow, the biggest news is the large amount of rain that has fallen. The previously dusty track has now become one long muddy track.

With some sections on the track seeing riders get close to 80 kmph, there was no doubt a few riders nervous about practice and making sure their lines were going to hold up in the wet.

With the track featuring so much exposed rock you have to stay confident and off the brakes. Mitch Delfs shows you how it is done. Photo: Jacob Gibbins
Dean Lucas made the cut for qualifying in what has been an excellent weekend for the Aussie Kona riders, all of them making the top 80 in qualifying. Let's hope Sunday is good to them! Photo: Jacob Gibbins
Jack Moir representing with the Australian jersey, line choice is critical on this track, with roots and rocks everywhere. Trying to hit all your lines on a four minute plus track, if you can remember them, is a big challenge. Photo: Jacob Gibbins
Australian jersey again, this time, Joey Vejvoda who unfortunately didn't make the cut. With Jared Rando and Amiel Cavalier on hand to assist the junior team, you can be sure even the guys who didn't make the cut have learnt a huge amount this weekend. Photo: Jacob Gibbins

With the rain coming down a lot of talk has been made of Stevie Smiths chances increasing (even more) of wining this race, the Canadian is of course use to these conditions. Sam Hill has found a few ‘sneaky lines’ so we are keen to see how he and the rest of the Aussies do. Full results, report and photos after finals on downhill247.com!
